Privacy by Design Certified: Kinduct Takes Security Seriously

On Tuesday, Kinduct announced a landmark certification, becoming the first Athlete Management System in the world to be Privacy By Design certified. The certification is based on an ISO-accredited assessment framework developed by KPMG, and is proof of Kinduct’s commitment to not only the security of user data but also the privacy of individuals. The certification combines 30 assessment criteria and 94 illustrative privacy and security controls from global privacy and security requirements and standards, including EU GDPR, ISO/IEC 29100, ISO/IEC 27001, ENISA, GAPP, industry best practices and regulatory guidance.

“Kinduct is thrilled to have achieved this critical certification, which shows our commitment to the protection of personal data throughout the organization,” said Andrew Milne, Kinduct’s Director of Information Security. “Clients can trust that we are interested in more than just regulatory compliance — we care about the current frequency of large scale data breaches and understand the importance of protecting personal data throughout the data life cycle. Moving forward, we will continue to meet and exceed industry standards and best practices by ensuring privacy and security are embedded into the design of our products.”

Kinduct’s announcement is another testament of the company’s commitment to the privacy and security of its client’s data. Privacy by Design ensures Kinduct’s privacy program not only adheres to compliance with regulatory frameworks, but integrates privacy assurance as the organization’s default mode of operation. The certification is paramount for data management and consolidation technologies such as Kinduct — a platform used by 500+ professional and elite sports teams, universities, tactical and medical organizations, and Olympic committees.

About Privacy by Design

Privacy by Design is a concept that was developed in the 1990s by Dr. Ann Cavoukian. Since then, it has developed into a global presence and has been translated into 37 languages. It is based on seven foundational principles:

  1. Proactive, not reactive; preventative not remedial
  2. Privacy as the default setting
  3. Privacy embedded into the design
  4. Full functionality; positive sum, not zero sum
  5. End-to-end security: full life cycle protection
  6. Visibility and transparency: keep it open
  7. Respect for user privacy: keep it user-centric
